LET'S TALK ABOUT MAKING LOGOS, SHALL WE? - Multimedia Arts Logo

_____________________________________________________________

I admit it, I find it reaaally hard to make logos and it's a struggle to even think of a concept logo. Especially without the proper inspirations. And that's why we're here as today we are going to be talking about logos and some tips in making one.

First things first, just like any other article, it's recommended to find some good inspiration. What determines good inspiration would be something that is relative to your theme and vision. A theme is the main idea or concept that you will be incorporating in a design, not only in logos, but in of all kinds. Meanwhile, a vision is something that relates to a guideline in one's mind to visualize a design.

I'll be trying these references for a Multimedia Arts Logo

references: 1st - https://www.deviantart.com/reyalty21/art/multimedia-arts-logo-2-98572930 | 2nd - https://www.facebook.com/299707764216763/photos/a.299707784216761/299708020883404/ | 3rd - https://m.facebook.com/NULagunaMMA/photos/a.107854300573949/331350751557635/?type=3

The next step is to find elements that you really like in the references you find. Personally, I like the simplicity in the first picture and the colors used, in the second image, I like the use of letters for a message. Finally, in the third image, I really like the shape formed by the letters.

When you gather all these elements, try to combine them all together or some of the best ones or the ones you like most in your design for the logo. Do not be afraid to experiment and sketch out the ideas you have, there are no rules and limits in art since you're still conceptualizing. You can sketch on paper or on a drawing program if you like, set both your imagination and yourself free to build your design. Remember that everyone has their own time and pace when making logos that are effective.

Here are the logos I made.

The first two are unfinished but the last one can already be considered as finished. The third logo represents approachableness, unity, and simplicity. It is targeted for minimalist individuals. Next, I'm still not quite impressed with the first two, they feel lacking so we will have to come back to it.

Anyway, as you can see, I took the same element of shapes into letters and did the crown similarly. For the 'MMA' png one, I've decided to envision it as letters forming pictures that build what's studied in MMA. I also took the concept of simplicity in the first image, and made it similar for the sake of simplicity.

Now that we have our base, we have two options. First, We can decide if it is already finished or second, we add color. On the third picture, I have decided to stop there and keep it simple as is with no color. For the first two, we will apply color.

Here they are with colors added~

For the crown, I have done two versions. One with shadow and light, and one without. I love how it came out, it's simple but still has impact. It represents achievement, empowerment, and the image of moving onward. Ah, but I like the next one more, let's take a look shall we?

Moving on, this was the one with 'MMA' and my personal favorite. I love what I did here to form images in place of the letters. It feels more like a simple logo but it has impact. It shows harmony, unity yet also variation, it is confident and approachable at the same time. It also depicts neatness and a welcoming vibe, that is perfect for attracting people to come join the Multimedia Arts family.

Here is another version of it, with a background.

It's not a bad idea to make a lot of variations to see which one is the best and which one suits a design for the theme and vision. Having many designs just means you can recycle it and redesign it for the next project. I always try to make more than one in order for me to find the best looking design that fits the topic most. It can also be an addition to one's portfolio!

There you have it - a walkthrough for a logo, specifically, a multimedia arts logo. These tips and tricks work with pretty much all logos in general, however, but they are not the only ones that work. There are many more tips that may help people in making logos and generating designs. Experimenting is one key to discover more tips and tricks, and if you DO find some, please do share some with the rest of us!
